Phase I
Achievements
At the beginning of the project
- Four hundred (400) outgrowers were assisted to plant 1200.28 hectares over a five year period instead of six years.
- 3500 hectares of old plantations of individuals and co-operatives were rehabilitated as against the target of 1300 hectares.
- Purchases from Outgrowers peaked above 1000 tons drc per annum
- Forty one (41) kilometers of roads
Financiers
The Phase I was financed by Agence Francaise de Developpment (AFD), IDA/World Bank were rehabilitated. The bank that gave credit to farmers was ADB.
Phase II
This was lunched on September 14, 2001.
Achievements
- Two thousand eight hundred and fifty-five (2855) hectares planted instead of 2800 hectares
- Five hundred (500) outgrowers were selected
- Rehabilitation of 20 km of roads achieved
- The Rubber Outgrowers and Agent Association (ROAA) was organized to become a major stakeholder in the rubber industry through a contract agreement with Institution and Development, a Non- Governmental Organisation
- Research on outgrower fields entrusted to CIRAD.Eighty –three (83) trails, involving 73 outgrowers and 10 at the factory were put in place.
Financiers
The Phase II was financed by AFD and Government of Ghana. The bank that gave credit to farmers was ADB.
Phase III
The project which is currently in Phase III became operational in January 2006. The objectives involve:
- The selection of additional 1750 outgrowers to plant 7000 hectares between 2006 and 2010 by the following distribution.

Achievements as at June 30, 2009
- 1300 outgrowers assisted to plant 5545.58 hectares in the Western Region
- 500 Outgrowers assisted to plant 1567.47 hectares in the Central Region
- Cumulatively 1800 outgrowers have so far been assisted to plant 7113.05 hectares.
Financiers
The Phase III is being funded by National Investment Bank Limited whilst the Technical Operator is Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL). The bank that is given credit to farmers is NIB.
